5 stars – Excellent Read!

When I received this book I had not been reading for a long time. From the first page I read, I got caught in the book; I couldn’t put it down. I have small children but I still finished the book in a week reading at bed time.. it was that good! You will be kept in suspense, like as if at the edge of your seat (if this was a movie and it sure can be a movie), lots of adventure, twists and turns… I will not give it away. You got to find out for yourself!

5 stars – Action Packed Lunacy

Wade pounced with great action and got my attention immediately. I found myself captivated by the uncertainty of the moment. Although perplexed throughout, I had an instantaneous connection to the crazy characters. I felt an immediate pull and bond to Freddie, his softness and soulful kindness. The constant confusion and air of mystery had me entranced and turning the page. Wade’s imagery put you in the time, place and space of the characters. The smell of the “cigar smoke and the sweet stink of cannabis,” almost lingering in the nostrils. The thoughts and pain made you one with the players, both perceived and relished. The action, sorrow and angst like “stones cast across settling waters.” I loved Wade’s way with words.
I was enthralled with Vega’s reminiscence of psychology; especially his truth and insight about how the lack of word impacts the child. It chilled me to the bone with its accuracy and profundity. Constantly, I found myself surprised and astounded. It moved me to tears when Freddie recounted the loss of his wife.
I loved the intertwining of Jules, Freddie and Zoe’s lives. I cherished when Zoe pleaded with Freddie to contact his son, “Then just stand at the door.”
I was shocked at the ending and pained at the ultimate gain and loss for the ones I had grown accustom. Overall, I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to mull my mind around for days.

5 stars – Suspenseful, engaging read – couldn’t put it down

When I settled myself on the couch yesterday to start the first few chapters of Drawer #7, I did not anticipate finishing the book in one day. Once I started this gripping thriller, I was unable to put it down and kept reading until I finished it just before bed. Looking back, I would suggest maybe not reading this book at night if you are easily scared. Jeff Wade’s story was so engaging and filled with twists, turns, and scares, that I definitely made sure to double check that my doors were locked before I went to my bedroom to go to sleep.
As the story begins, we are introduced to Freddie, a handyman who has become quite a lonely guy following the death of his wife. He is soon introduced, through random chance, to a woman who appears to have amnesia. Meeting her jolts Freddie out of his rut, and the subsequent reveal of her name (Zoe? Or is it Julie? Who really knows?), her hidden martial arts skills (revealed after a surprise attack), and potential connection to a mysterious government agency (that part definitely threw me for a loop), only serves to draw him in more and more. Eventually though, Freddie must confront the fact that things have become much more intense than he could have predicted when he first met this woman. When it comes down to it, is he ready to deal with the consequences of continuing to engage with this mystery, and this woman, who has cured him of his loneliness and he has now come to love? This book does a great, and surprising job, with answering this question. Highly recommend for a fun, engaging read you won’t want to put down.

4 stars – Nothing is as It Seems

What do you get when you cross weird scientific discoveries worthy of Clive Cussler, characters with Jack Reacher-like coolness and skills combined with the plot and story complexity of a Tom Clancy novel.? Drawer #7.
This my third book in pursuit of my goal of reading a book a week and posting a review on Amazon. My first two books were non-fiction and packed with useful information. This book, not an easy read, exceeds expectations in a number of areas including very interesting information wrapped in a mind-bending story of government corruption, spy versus spy action and intrigue, combined with a moving story of two unlikely people discovering love and purpose in the midst of dangerous turmoil.
Freddie the Fixer, a heartbroken handyman still recovering from the tragic death of his wife and subsequent alienation of his only son, finds himself involved with a woman suffering from multiple personality disorder, sort of a two for the price of one relationship. He connects romantically with one of the two women occupying the same body who has a poet’s heart and talents. He finds, to his alarm, that her other personality, that of a martial arts ninja ready to kill at the drop of a hat, is not so agreeable but proves to be infinitely more interesting. She may or may not be a rogue spy trying to blow the whistle on a government cover-up of an epic scientific discovery and subsequent secret program involving telekinesis and extra-sensory percetion.
Now, in my experience, that’s enough for a good ride. But that’s just the beginning. Add to that another rogue spy/assassin on a mission of revenge who’s stalking the ninja and a diabolical sex trafficker who is after the poet and you get the ingredients of a great read.
One side note, feel free to skip some of the author’s extended descriptions and explanations that, while interesting, are not crucial to following the story and get, in my opinion, a little tedious.

4 stars – Wow. Just Wow.
By Maria Montgomery on December 22, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition
Martial Arts Grandmaster and author, Jeff Wade, has produced a compelling novel, Drawer #7, that is at once thriller, sci-fi, and a peep into the worlds of human trafficking and psychology/mental illness. It also leads us to examine ourselves through a character who believes he is a devout Christian, while behaving in a way that would repel most people whether religious or not. I am still saying, “Wow!” about Drawer #7.
Freddie “The Fixer” Schaeffer is a local handyman/ repairman. Julie, a.k.a., Zoe, bolts into his life when she runs from traffickers and into the street in front of his van, which strikes her. Julie is a docile, childlike poet with only a rudimentary grasp of the English language. Her alter ego, Zoe is strong, outspoken, well-spoken, and trained in martial arts.
In the first chapter, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy Drawer #7. In chapter two I was hooked. I’m so glad I decided to keep reading.
Freddie’s life is changed forever after rescuing Julie. Zoe shows him (and the reader) some of the experiments being conducted by military personnel who are allowed too much power in the fictitious (I hope) Department of Scientific Alternatives (D-Salt). Together Zoe and Freddie wipe out a criminal gang, and help a man who wants out of a life of crime.
As writers often do, they allow their characters or narrators to voice the authors’ opinions. One of Wade’s characters realizes the “terrorist” he just killed on the orders of his covert operations unit, is actually a journalist who was getting too close to discovering the activities of D-SAlt. He then notes that
“…newspapers these days served more to influence than to inform. Even giving them the benefit of the doubt when it came to honesty, what the news left out was as influential as what it chose to report.”
This book is a gripping read that will hold your attention to the very end. The surprising end.
What Make This Reviewer Grumpy?
The usual things:
• Using the word “further” in place of “farther” – a common mistake, but they are not interchangeable. Further refers to more of something, while farther refers to distance;
• Misplacement of the word “only” within sentences;
• Beginning sentences with conjunctions “and” and “but”;
• Split infinitives.

5 stars – Quite a page turner!!

Drawer #7 was an intense thriller/action/love story. It follows Freddie and Julie/Zoe as they try to navigate the mystery of who Julie and Zoe are and save them from their respective pursuers. Neither case is easy, especially since Julie and Zoe are the same person! I felt so badly for Freddie, a fix it all man who has secrets of his own. Julie’s villians are straightforward, a pimp and his henchmen hell bent on keeping Julie on the pole and away from Freddie. Zoe’s are a little more complex. We’re not sure if Bruce is bad or good, but we definitely know Creed can’t be good, since he’s a government suit working on cover ups and loose ends.
The books moves quickly. The author does a great job of describing the changes between Zoe and Julie as they happen through the story. He specifically gives them different talents, dialect, clothing choices, etc to make sure you (and Freddie) know who is around in a particular scene. The one thing I loved about this author’s writing is the flow of his dialogue. The way he presents the tone and even the stature of a character lent to how I heard their voices play out. I often find that new author struggle with dialogue and vernacular, making written conversations formal and choppy. But that certainly wasn’t the case here!
It was a definite pleasure to read. I would highly recommend for anyone who loves a good government science thriller!

4 stars – I loved these characters
By Zakle on December 18, 2018

Drawer #7 is a mystery thriller following several pov characters centered around a woman and her abrupt entrance into handyman Freddy Schaeffer’s life.
Until this meeting, Freddy was going through the motions, ignoring the pains of the distant past, and not forgiving himself for things far out of his control.
He’s intent on fixing things, and makes a living on making the seemingly impossible possible.
It’s no surprise when he becomes fixated on helping Zoe, the mysterious woman who is adamant that her face is not truly her own.
This is where I would praise the fast pace, the mystery, the tidbits on fighting and weapons, like most reviewers who enjoyed this, but I personally want to shine the spotlight on the characters themselves.
Needless to say, they are well written.
Freddy and Zoe, in my opinion, complement each other well, despite their first meeting being less than stellar. I can’t imagine any other duo taking their place as protagonists in this story.
They have a subtle sort of chemistry that’s hard to write.
I was surprised at how quickly they grew on me; their quirks, their own inner demons, their speech, everything. I could see them being real people existing in reality, and, sometimes, that just made things hurt more later on, especially with Freddy.
However, there are some things I found lacking, not in the characters, but in the writing. There are a lot of metaphors and similes which can quickly lessen the effect, and several capitalized words that shouldn’t be capitalized sprinkled in.
I took off a star for those problems, which boils down to the four stars I’ve ultimately settled on.
Overall, I enjoyed going on this journey with these characters. I hope we see them again some day.

This book sucks you in right from the beginning with a very mysterious introduction of one of the main characters that is reminiscent of spy thrillers. Honestly Jeff Wade should be trying to get this made into a movie if he isn’t already. It’s very cinematic and would adapt to film extremely well with it’s plot and suspense, or maybe just make a movie about Wade’s life, dude is fascinating, gunsmith and grandmaster in martial arts? This story moves quick and definitely keeps you on your toes. You’re actively trying to figure out what’s going to happen. I don’t normally like this genre but don’t let the genre fool you, this book is on a league of it’s own. Definitely worth picking up for the price.

Well written book, very entertaining and thought-provoking. At first a little confusing by the very nature of the book’s premise. But everything is explained by the end. The Sci-fi type experiment which is the basis of the story involves very disturbing descriptions during the climactic events. But overall an enjoyable read.

Drawer #7 is quite the expedition! It most definitely grasps your attention from the very first paragraph and will keep you enticed through the entire book. If you read a lot of books and really enjoy well painted out scenes that place you right inside of each chapter, then this is the book for you. The character presentation is on point as it will have you hesitating to put the book down just to see what is going to happen next to your new found “friends”. This book is full of suspense, mystery, comedy and drama so this read will definitely take you on an emotional ride. The entire time while I was reading this book I kept playing it out in my head as if it were a movie, that is just how vivid the author is with his method of portraying characters and scenes. This book also touches in a bit on fantasy. Which usually is not my go to choice for books, but the way the author incorporates it, I still was able to enjoy the book from start to finish. This one is not exactly a tear jerker, but it most definitely will still pull at your emotions as you read through it. For those of you who stick to reading within your favorite genre, you may want to deviate out of it for this book. I can’t quite place it in one genre so I will just say it is really worth giving it a try.

WOW! I generally read a lot of mysteries, but this one truly takes the cake! This book is amazing!!!! If you love ready mysteries, get ready! You are going to absolutely love this book. The book begins in such a dramatic way that I couldn’t stop reading it. The main character enters our lives as a stripper. When she takes the time to look at herself in the mirror, she is scared of what she sees. She doesn’t recognize the woman in the mirror and her life seems to be quite different than what she has remembered. According to her, she is not at all the woman she thought she was. This is where the book reels you in and gets you ready to embark on this journey with her to find out who she really is. Don’t get confused by the title, this is not the 7th book of the series, like I thought at first. This book is only the beginning of her life!
The wonderful thing about this book is that I could absolutely see it becoming a movie or even a tv series. It keeps your attention, reels you in, and just when you think you know what’s happening, the plot changes! This is what I loved most about this book; it kept going where I wanted it to, then would change the scenario and you would be reading more and more just to see what happened!
If you love psychological thrillers and mysteries, you should read this book today! It is captivating and very well written. I would recommend for any book club too!!

oh my goodness this book is just mind boggling! I am entirely obsessed and amazed by this story…the author has done such an amazing job creating this masterpiece. From the first page I was enticed, the thrill of not knowing what’s going to happen next is what kept me reading and reading until I finally finished and wished I had taken my time more ha! I loved the characters and how strong minded and thoughtful they are. I love a book that makes me think and doesn’t just keep me blankly reading along (some books just bore you to death but you keep reading?). The parts where I had to re read to catch what’s happening or the scenes that made me feel like a detective figuring out what’s about to happen were the best! Not to mention this story has it all including action, thrill, romance, sc-fi 🙂 just an overall well rounded story that I’m pretty sure anyone would enjoy unless you are entertained by basic unoriginal books.

5 Stars – File Drawer #7 in your soon to be read list.
By Lisa Street Rogerson December 4, 2018

Drawer #7 is a fascinating sci-fi tale which speaks to our all-consuming desire to understand everything in our world no matter the cost. A scientific experiment seemingly gone awry catches up what were once everyday people into its web, and pushes them outside their comfort zones leading them toward new paths. Something along the lines of Lucy meets Flatliners. Do we live up to our own reflections of ourselves? How far would we go to save the ones we love? How far would we go to save ourselves from destruction of our own or other’s making? For each of the main characters, I found I put myself in their shoes – what would I do? Would I have the courage, the tenacity, or the drive to do as they did? It is a long book, and I have a sneaking suspicion I’ll be reading it again soon for a second round as there is so much to take in. Filled with action, classic turns of phrase, and snappy dialogue, I couldn’t put it down. So, once you start, I suggest you have no plans until finished as Drawer #7 keeps you in its grip from start to finish.

5 Stars – Eye catching title
By Presley L on December 1, 2018

I was initially draw to the cover of this book, because it’s dark and obscure looking. Plus, the title doesn’t give anything away, and just creates more questions than anything “What the heck is Drawer #7?”. The author really found a way to get the audience engaged right away into the story.
Throughout the story we follow the characters Freddie and Julie. One of the characters suffer from amnesia and they venture off to try and figure out the source of it. This is where Drawer #7 comes involve and leads them to an underground government agency. The stories continue to involve conspiracy as they become closer to figuring out the truth. The romance in the story is a plus as well. It’s not often that there’s a great mystery partner up with a in-depth romance story. I enjoyed the characters very much despite some of the events that unfold.
The author provides a great amount of details to the surroundings and how the characters are feeling. Psychological thoughts and drama were mixed into the story as well. Be sure to follow the story closely and it is best read in a quiet area. I know this is ideal naturally, but many people read books with the tv on. I feel that takes away from the story or potential can. I was pulled into the story right away simply by the mystery of the title. I always enjoy mysteries and the psychological aspect is merely a plus for me. Even with all the different sides of this story it still can be true to daily life.

5 Stars – Addictive supernatural thriller with heart

An action thriller with heart, “Drawer Number 7” is well worth the ride. Author Jeff Wade’s sophomore book is fast paced and addictive from the very first chapter. Hold onto your seat and prepare to be sucked into “Drawer #7”
A handsome handyman with a tortured past collides violently with a mysterious and entrancing woman full of duality. As they try to untangle her complicated and spotty past there are dangerous men searching for her, a pimp threatening her freedom, and plenty of intense internal conflict.
Sci-fi, martial arts, mental illness, romance, fatherhood, strippers, this novel has something for everyone without feeling convoluted.
This was a quick moving novel full of action. His fight scenes are extremely concise and thrilling to read but there are also many tender moments. Wade adds enough levity throughout to balance the often heartbreaking tragedy. I enjoyed the humanity of the characters in Wade’s writing. Whether describing a villain or hero, he creates well-rounded characters with pasts, passions, and flaws. The supernatural mystery really drives the story and captivates the reader.
If you’re looking for a multi-layered, heart wrenching, and mysterious thriller this is your golden ticket.

It’s not what is in drawer #7 that is so unspeakable, so unworldly, so wrong. It’s what is keeping her going. Along with Zoe Decker in drawer #7, is something that is at the heart of a whirlpool that is drawing people together from all around Miami – people who would never have met otherwise. Freddie the Fixer is a massive guy with a tragic past who likes to lose himself in his home improvements projects to escape his past. He likes to solve construction problems and build walls – even walls that keep people at arm’s length. Until one night he (literally) runs into Zoe. Only, Zoe isn’t looking like Zoe – she doesn’t recognize the face she sees when she looks in the mirror and she had to fight her way out of a strip club – a place she would never go. Julie is a mild-mannered, head in the clouds, artist type who happens to work in a strip club and has been beaten into submission all of her life – first by her mother, then by the pimp that runs the strip club. Bruce is a man with a serious ax to grind with the Muslims and is working for an undercover branch of the government called DSA (or DSAlt). He is the gun who is sent to silence those who need to say no more – ever. Until he is the one who has to be silenced because he stumbles onto the trail of the ‘Amber ‘ project and has been asked to do one last job – silence Zoe Decker. Only she can’t be found and she’s left him some enlightening information about project Amber and drawer #7. Freddie finds himself drawn to Zoe and to Julie and vows to help them out even though it means facing his past and his own demons. Zoe is determined to understand what is happening to her mind and body. Julie is growing stronger with Freddie’s help, love and support and Bruce is learning to make peace with his demons. But, will what’s in drawer #7 and the government and scientific communities behind it bring everything crashing down? You won’t be able to put this book down until you find out!

5 Stars – Dare to Open the Drawer at Your Own Risk!
By Mary L. on November 9, 2018

Drawer #7 by Jeff Wade was an exciting ride/read all the way through. This book was right up my alley given the intriguing title and cover image, but the first chapter alone is bizarre enough to pull you heavily in for an unexpected and dark (but sometimes comical) psychological/sci-fi thriller. I thought that the main chapter titles were brief, but straight to the point and made perfect sense once you become immersed into the heart of each chapter’s story. The overall writing and word choices are mind-blowing and beyond descriptive, filled with enough visuals and dialogue to keep your attention. I think most readers can find something personal to relate to from it because we’ve all been lost in a moment or life event that leaves us struggling to realize whether something is real, or fantasy intermixed with experiencing the painful emotions of struggle and self-doubt. You instantly feel connected and empathetic to “Star” who is revealed in a dreamlike stance of confusion, uncertainty, and shock. My initial reaction was to assume she had been drugged, but if you’re patient with the ebbs and flows of an explosive mind disturbance you’ll sink in quick to understand her. Freddie is also equally likable, and I could relate to his inner maddening turmoil of life. However, I enjoyed the underlying comical notes of his true thoughts—”Unavoidably, the memory of how it felt to share a bed with a woman rose like a zombie…he shoved the corpse back into the grave.” Meeting “Zoe” in a way gives him a new founded purpose as both characters become each other’s saviors in a sense. There are elements of romance which are tastefully done and aside from profanity (which I didn’t mind at all because things were addressed in a tone at the right moment in a way one would react), I mostly appreciated the human connectedness that was displayed among the characters in the book—strange, inviting, and fierce. Emotions run high throughout this book as you might find yourself crying or laughing inside at the same time. The Notes from the Author at the very end was a nice surprise and gives the reader a little insight as to where the heck Wade came up with an incredibly fascinating and gripping storyline based on disturbing experiences of his own. If you like lengthy novels that you want to lose yourself into completely, this is the perfect page turner book for you. It’s the type of book I would want to pick up and read again both for its imagination and authenticity. I could also envision this to be turned into a dramatic dark comedy film. Excited to read more by this phenomenal and brilliant author!

Drawer #7 – by Jeff Wade: I purchased and downloaded this book into Kindle, thinking I would enjoy reading it over a week or so, but even though I had a very busy weekend, I didn’t want to put my phone down. The book opens with a lady looking in a mirror and not recognizing herself, not remembering more than the last 60 seconds of her life or her name, then she realizes she’s pole dancing at a strip club. The author keeps the story going with many twists and turns – from amnesia, multiple personalities, secret government agency, sordid pole dancing strip club, secret science experiments, a kidnapped sister and a sinkhole. The main characters are: Star, the pole dancer or Zoe, the ninja warrior or is she Julie, the naïve artist. Freddie the Fixer, handyman extraordinaire. Bruce Vega & Colonel Taggart Creed, members of the DSA, Department of Scientific Alternatives Paxyl, and the slimy crew of the strip club I really enjoyed this book, all close to 500 pages of it. Is it a romance, a scientific thriller, an action-packed drama – it’s all the above. I look forward to future books by Mr. Wade.

I couldn’t put Drawer #7 down. The plot twists were unexpected and interesting, the characters well rounded and developed. The action is nonstop, from page 1 to the very end, beginning with a wild chase scene involving a woman who doesn’t recognize herself. Jeff Wade creates such a fascinating world, and although taking from common political thriller themes such as corrupt government agencies taking out their own agents, he creates his own version packed with mysteries and twists and involving completely ordinary, if not beaten down, people. I really liked the main characters, Freddie, Julie, and Zoe–even Bruce. Each was distinct and varied, with backstory and personality quirks that unexpectedly come to fruition throughout the story. While Wade brings about some closure after an extremely violent and surprising end, I still wanted to know what happened next and how this new technology could develop. This fast-paced book is well written and inventive–highly recommend!

So this book was a bit of a mystery wrapped up in a romance with psychic powers mixed in. The characters were believable and had substance. The book moved along great. It caught your attention at the very beginning and kept it the whole ride though. It was well written and had plenty of substance in it. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and look forward to more from this author. I was surprised at the overall quality of the book. It did a great job of presenting questions and sending its heroes on a believable path towards the answers. I wish the author had spent more time on the amber though. Maybe that will be the substance of a new book? I really liked Freddie as a character. I emulate him in a way in that my response to emotional issues is usually physically dealt with. So I really felt he was a believable character. Paxyl to me though lacked the depth to be a crime lord. That, however, was the only real weakness I saw in the novel. Honestly, I felt too much time was spent on the strip club part of it but that’s a personal issue with it because of my curiosity about the amber. There was a bit of a macabre horror to it towards the end. It’s good the decontamination didn’t destroy the world. Again though believable…after all there were concerns the nuclear bomb would ignite the atmosphere and destroy the planet but the government detonated them literally all over the place. In any case it’s definitely worth 1.99 and definitely worth the read!

5 Stars – A Wild Ride From the Get-Go
By Angelica Hon on October 30, 2018

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Drawer #7. Jeff Wade did a wonderful job of creating a mystery, filled with tension and excitement, from the very beginning. Let me tell you, Mr. Wade knows how to keep a reader glued to their book!
The action starts from chapter one, in which we meet our female protagonist who can’t remember who she is. Worse yet, she can’t even recognize her own face in the mirror, a face she swears isn’t hers! She exhibits advanced fighting skills and defense techniques… but it’s an unknown as to how she learned these skills.
Next, we meet our second hero, Freddie Schaeffer, a sort of traumatized loner with a big heart. He places himself in the position of protector and friend of our female protagonist. I found the relationship between these two characters rather touching, and I loved that Freddie’s character embraced his vulnerability rather than just ‘macho’ it out.
This isn’t like any other novel I’ve read. You start out about as clueless as the characters and unravel the twisted and torrid enigmas of their world along with them. Each character is fully fleshed out and individualistic, something I take as a sign of a good writer.
I love Mr. Wade’s style of writing. He’s clever without pretension, down to earth without losing that literary tinge. The whole book has an almost cinematic quality about it; it was easy for me to get through this book quickly with the pace Wade set. The ending was something I did not expect, but whoa it was worth it. I definitely don’t think Drawer #7 will disappoint you. Enjoy!

5 Stars – I love the writing style
By Insome A. on October 26, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition, Verified Purchase
The author makes it difficult for you to get the story. The author tries to bring sense from something very low and unpredictable, the author tries to relate the episodes into our daily lives. The first picture one gets from the first chapter is what I call creativity, playing with mind and make you try to understand him. I love this. The author carries the story and makes it his own and that makes it more appealing. Mixture of events, confused sets, like where is the scene, what is it being displayed and later you understand the plot and the concept. I am a writer, a young writer who can’t write better but can know the best work done.
Some poetic aspect in the story is great. The author understands physical sciences and applies force in the story, you know, he tries to connect to every person and that’s why I’ll call him a perfect writer and seek for writing coaching. The grammar is well checked. And with further connections, the author also talks about arts, he introduces a craftsman, someone who is perfect in art and craft. Drama and suspense also filled the story and that is what makes some sweet part of a play. What’s going on? Why is it this way? What should she have done?? Such questions storm as one reads the book. Many subchapters too. The author arranged the ideas into perfect subchapters and short ones, like a scene description. I can’t just say enough but your style made me love your work more. And the story people have to find out by themselves.

Jeff Wade really went over the top with the writing of this book. I heard lots of good reviews from the other book The Survivors and that is why I purchased this book. This writer writes in an incredible way that really gets your emotions up and running. I was glued to this book and I just could not put it down. I finished reading it in a few days. I was up at the late-night hours reading this story just to find out what was going to happen. You could tell that the writer was very familiar with the background of the characters he created. I was really impressed with how the story was put together. There were lots of things happening, tons of drama, very suspenseful and thrills that really keep you on the edge of your seat. The story moves at a quick pace so you have to read very slowly so that you don’t miss out on the action that is going on. If you enjoy reading a story with a fantastic plot then you just have to purchase this book

5 stars – A fantastic read!

Holy cow this book is fantastic! I don’t usually wax ecstatic about fiction, but I could not put down Drawer #7. Gripping right from the beginning, the opening scene of the book starts off with a bang. We are introduced to a woman, who comes to falling off of pole while dancing at a club. She has zero memory of who she is, or how she got there, and the only thing she is absolutely certain of is that the body she is inside of is not her own.
The story gets even more intriguing from there, with complex and compelling characters. We are introduced to a government-sanctioned hitman with an insatiable desire to kill, although after a few chapters, we realized he’s actually just trying to cover the pain of a seering loss from his youth. There is a wholly-uneducated stripper, who is actually an artistic genius. There is a thug enforcer with a heart of gold, and the list goes on. This handful of sympathetic characters draw the reader right in and make sure to ensnare one’s interest in the plot. I found myself dying to find out just who was inhabiting this initial woman’s body, what or where on earth (or was it earthly?) was drawer #7, and just how all the fantastical situations our characters found themselves would play out.
Drawer #7 is quite the page-turner. It’s well-written, fast-paced, engaging, and full of mystery, romance, and action. It kept me enthralled right up through the end, which included a small twist that I had surprisingly not seen coming.

This is another reading for recreational purposes. The title made me a bit confused when I started reading because I had very little information about what was happening. So I thought #7 means it is a sequel in a series all titled Drawer lol But as I continued reading, the story unfolded itself. Basically, there are two plot lines. One is a bit rom-com-ish. Julie/Zoe had two split personalities and went through an episode of amnesia. Freddie came across her as she ran away from a strip club and somehow was attracted to the mysterious girl. The other is not so fun: a secret department that bore secret projects. I don’t wanna spoil the story so I’ll digress here.
I was nervous while reading the book because I felt like I was holding my breath all the way. The plots were tight and sometimes left some room for me to relax. The interaction between Julie/Zoe and Freddie was not cliche and the portrait of both woman was distinct from each other. The author had a clever way to use punctuation and italics to create tension. I think it might be a good material for a movie because it is a combination of action, suspense, drama and romance. Also, Mayo Clinic should pay the author some fee for advertisement haha

5 stars – You May Never Want To Look Into A Mirror Again

Eight hours, seven chapters, and 490 Kindle pages later…WOW! Jeff Wade’s easy writing style nails this SyFy novel making even the most outrageous storyline believable (a concept that hopefully never materializes—if it hasn’t already)…a DARPA nightmare. Remember Lost?
Drawer #7 is told in the first person through his protagonist, Freddie “the Fixer” Schaeffer, making for a Showing not a Telling story—puts you right into the action.
Excellent characterization and character development: emotional growth and relationship as each finds their selves through one another and situations Wade puts his characters into. His characters know who they are and they are different people by the end of the book. As each slowly reveals their self to readers, they become our friend, neighbor, or worse enemy.
Page-turning hooks as the story unfolds and drama intensifies. The final forty-five minutes of the book, in chapter seven, Wade’s hooks are death defying. Now, I can’t put the book down at 2AM.
Descriptions are poignant (…the plastic audience clapped like seals), though somewhat confusing in chapter 6, The Others. Not sure how Freddie gets from a shootout to inside a submarine, but my confusion…not recessively yours, and took nothing away from the story.
In The Voice, Wade’s description of an approaching storm—real and symbolic—is an excellent example of Wade’s creative ability.
Military and gun enthusiasts will find Wade’s references to arms credible.
He attacks dialogue with a cultural vengeance from military lingo to street punk jargon. None of which reads forced or unrealistic. Wade has his slang and syntax down: “You done got problems. You best shut the f***up before you make ‘em worse.” And I loved his vocabulary sneaking in words not likely in a modern suspense novel that will send some readers scurrying to Oxford: rataplan, fetor, sobriquet.
And then there are moments of truth, when Wade shares brute modern-day realities with his readers: the plastic audience clapped like seals, and, modern news boiled down to…entertainment.
I have to complete the last fragment speaking of the news: …how they conveyed information—as well as what they left out—had…greater impact than what they reported. Do I hear an “amen?” He goes on, “People seemed to be addicted to …emotional stimulation”: anger, hate, fear and the media feeds them “what they ask for…their nightly fix.”
And he informs: Allah means “God is,” but Akbar means “greater.” And reminds us that, “Testing is teaching.”
FOOD FOR THOUGH
Every environmentalist needs to read his take on electric cars: “electricity doesn’t make itself,” and reconsider their stance on fossil fuels, coal-fired power plants, nuclear energy and the environment. Eye opening…mind blowing…considering “those 700-pound batteries…the mining for materials to make them” destroying “untold numbers of species.”
In the end, just one thing to remember the next time you peer into your mirror, “Under threat, attack what’s attacking you.”
Happy read.
OUTSTANDING PHRASING that brings Drawer #7 to life
—…cars dozing in the lot
—The eight-foot drop to the kitchen floor yawned to a bottomless chasm…
—…the earth yawned beneath him…
—coffee pot chuckled
—He hawked up a loogie…now stretched down his chin like a snotty worm
…Waterfalls fussed with fountains, an endless buoyant babbling.
—…the first flashes of light…accompanied by spatters on the roof—residual shrapnel from liquid mortars in the distance.
—…light flashing in the windows silhouetted blue trickles, sliding like tears down the glass…
—…birds peck away at their breadcrumb breakfast…
—…distilled moonlight bleeding through the curtains
—blades of the ceiling fan cut the air
—…railroad spikes nailed to his skull
—Time leaked as if from a sieve
—Dazed and broken like two bugs that just met a windshield…
TECHNOLOGICALLY
—Kindle formatting good
—No distractions with misspelling
—Some omitted text, but the author admits to this flaw and asks reader assistance in correcting text: “… they’re just dice. Concentrate like you did while ago.”—This reader smoother as “a while ago.”
I liked that at the end of his book in Notes From The Author, Wade gives an explanation to his characters. Makes the story even more interesting and his friends and family happy?

4 stars – Not your normal boy meets girl story…

Author Jeff Wade dives right in to engage readers in the mystery of his book titled Drawer #7. The story opens with a mysterious woman who happens to be performing as an exotic dancer. As she sees herself in a mirror, she doesn’t recognize the face that she sees nor her surroundings. In panic mode, she runs out during her act and is chased by the strip club’s bouncers. As she wildly runs through the streets she is hit by a truck driven by Freddie a.k.a. “Freddie the Fixer”. His first reaction is to help the half-naked stranger who is being chased. From that moment on his life is never the same again. Before their accidental encounter, Freddie was simply a handyman coping with a traumatic experience from his past. Once they meet, Freddie learns that the woman is an amnesiac with a split personality. He becomes captivated with this woman who first identifies herself as Julie. Then Freddie is eager to help her find the true identity of her alternate personality, Zoe Decker.
While getting to know each other, Freddie and Julie find solace in one another’s circumstances and connect. The deeper they search for answers, the more dangerous things become. Particularly when a stranger comes around with a photo of a woman who looks exactly like Zoe Decker. The mystery of Drawer #7 becomes more action-packed when Freddie and Julie/Zoe are led to the source of her amnesia at an underground government agency. While there they get closer to the truth of her critical involvement in a conspiracy taking place at the agency. It is totally not what any reader would expect. There is a lot going on throughout the book that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
With astounding attention to detail, Wade creates an incredible mix of psychological drama with mad science. All I can say is, tighten your seatbelts for an out of this world experience.

5 stars – What a book!

This was quite some book to read! I don’t even know where to begin, I was taken aback from the very beginning not knowing what to expect, and the masterful writing can be thanked for the way it starts throwing it all at you from the start, you get to know these characters, care for them, be surprised by how fast the tempo of the story is, and how Interesting the development turns out to be, I’ve always been a fan of strong women and the lady (or should I say ladies, if you know what I mean) character in this novel certainly is, free spirited, a little crazy, a little emotional, just like most real women I know. It was a pleasure to read about her and her interactions with Freddie, who really needed someone to be there for him.
I’m not one who likes to give things away in a review (always preferring the reader to be amazingly surprised when they first read it) but I can assure you that if you have not picked this book up, you’re missing out! Not to mention you won’t be able to put it down until it’s done and even then you’ll be left wanting more.

“Drawer #7” by Jeff Wade is an action packed thrill ride to say the least. Imagine coming into consciousness almost naked and twirling on a stripper pole! Bam! You have just entered Jeff Wade’s world and there will be no turning back. So begins a journey unlike any other.
The stripper named “Star” or Jules has absolutely no memory of herself. She does not even recognize her body or her amazing martial arts skills. As she runs from the strip joint she is almost hit, then rescued by mild manned and lonely Freddie “the Fixer” just returning from a construction job. Freddie the fixer is aptly named because that is his primary role throughout the novel. He helps “Star” uncover her memories and personalities. As Freddie and “Star” progress they are led into a government conspiracy. “Star” remembers another name she is called-Zoe- and she begins having nightmares and repeating a string of words…”Sea level. Desalt. Drawer number 7.” Mild mannered Freddie bonds with “Star” and tries to research what may be wrong with her thinking of the obvious like multiple personality disorders. Meanwhile, they are being watched by a government who is involved in a secret military operation involving “Star” that goes far beyond her job as a stripper.
The book slowly morphs into a science fiction tale of unimaginable twists and turns. This one is a keeper!

Drawer #7 is easily one of the most engaging and creative novels that I have ever read. The clarity and crispness of Jeff Wade’s narration leaves readers no choice but to be completely drawn into the experience from the very beginning. I could not put this book down and spent several late nights promising myself that I would read only one more page. Jeff Wade has fast become one of my favorite authors, and I cannot wait for what he comes up with next. Be warned that once you read Jeff Wade’s writing, everything else will feel dull by comparison.

5 stars – A compelling and engaging mystery

The reader is thrown into the plot immediately with little To no introduction leaving you as disoriented as the characters. The descriptions and imagery are strong, creating a world an setting a scene where the readers feels both familiar and yet very other making it easy to relate to the character as she struggles to grasp the very thing the reader is. The narrative paints a vivid picture and develops and equally vivid mystery. With this style, you are wrapped up in the story and dragged along as you try to piece it all together. “Drawer 7” immediately grabs your focus and doesn’t let go.
It is a unique writing style and narrative that alternates characters and their perspectives— all of whom have their own degree of unreliability. The prose does shift from past and present tense, but not too often that it is confusing or interferes with the context of the narrative.
With each chapter, the story and the characters come together in a fascinating pairing: a stripper with no memory of who she is and feeling like she’s in the wrong body and a handyman.
While Freddie the Fixer tries to help “Star” work through her amnesia, new twists and drama unfolds as more questions are asked rather than answered. A compelling mystery that keeps the reader engaged and needing to know more. How did Star “wake up” as a stripper in a bar? Where did she learn defensive maneuvering and combat? What is her real name and how did she get there?
Freddie the Fixer and the reader both have their hands full trying to figure out the puzzle of this young woman and what will happen next.

5 Stars – This is a rapid-fire, action-packed adventure!
Byvtrevieweron September 4, 2018

“Drawer #7” by novelist Jeff Wade is a wonderfully entertaining work. The rapid and very descriptive language used is machine gun fire for the mind. The wording is intelligent and vivid. I was impressed with the ‘tough’ nature of the dialog and descriptions. I was reminded of reading the many early detective stories of my youth as I fed my brain this rapid-fire novel. The plot is complex and amazing. It dips, dives, and swerves, taking no prisoners but many captives as it builds. The book is romantic and dramatic, but at the same time quite suspenseful. At nearly five hundred pages, (four hundred ninety-nine, to be exact,) it will be a long journey, but not at all a slog through the story. I am a novelist, myself, and am amazed at writers who can keep up the pace and the reader’s interest through this long a book. Jeff Wade seems quite adept at doing just that. The story is very true to life, but at the same time, fantastic. I am very happy with my purchase of this great romantic, dramatic piece of action-packed fiction. I would purchase it again and recommend it highly to any reader who appreciates emotionally-charged situations and action, action, and more action!

If you plan to read “Drawer #7” by Jeff Wade, expect to not put the book down until you finish it! Within reading the first couple pages of the book, I know I had found a hidden gem. I absolutely love psychological thrillers and I have never been so mesmerized and obsessed with a book until now. Wade knows how to captivate and engage the reader from page one and until the very end. This is the only psychological thriller I have read that I felt didn’t have any boring, slow, or dry spots that I had to fight to read to get to the very end. One thing that Wade did perfectly to keep the novel riveting from beginning to end, was creating well-defined characters that are easy to love and continually follow even after the book ended.
The two main characters in the novel are Freddie and Jules who end up meeting after Freddie hits Jules with his vehicle. Wade describes Freddie as a handyman who has gone through emotional turmoil and Jules, an exotic performer, who not only has one personality, but two. Jules other persona is Zoe, a martial arts expert. As Freddie adjusts to learning the personalities of both Jules and Zoe, the drama and romance intensifies. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a mystery, drama, and a psychological thriller all in one. This is the first book I have read by Wade, and I have to say with absolute certainty, it will not be my last!

5 stars – Drawer #7

One woman has a split personality. Despite being broken and barely with any memories, she is an open person. She loves freely and gladly. She teaches closed of Freddie how to love. Freddie has suffered a devastating loss in his life. However, through helping Jules he starts to heal and can finally feel whole again.
Jeff Wade possesses an uncanny ability to develop full dimensional characters that jump off the pages and walk the journey with the reader. Characters so vivid, so real, so relatable and beautifully crafted. Freddie despite being so is actually quite small inside. Jules is a formidable woman. She is a force of nature even in her position. The author did a commendable job with the characters.
Drawer #7 is a wonderfully told story. The plot is quite the ride. The language is very simple with vivid narration. It is the kind of writing that captures and holds the reader from beginning to the end. It is captivating and thrilling. His introduction of the story is strong. The book is quite short but sufficient. Just perfect to read and reread when Jules and Freddie just will not leave your mind.
There is romance. There is drama…so much drama. There is suspense. Then there is a boatload of action. Do not plan to read thins book over a few days, it will not let you. It will demand to be read in one sitting. It will be well worth it. Five stars out of five for this book. It is simply breathtaking.

5 stars – What an amazing read!

A fast-past intriguing story that I could not put down. Drawer #7 is about Freddie, an emotionally damaged man and Jules/Zoe, an exotic dancer he accidentally hits with his truck. Freddie soon finds there is more to Jules, one moment she is a carefree poet and the next an intense martial artist who calls herself Zoe. He finds himself drawn to Jules/Zoe and commits himself to help her stay safe and find the reason for her split personality. Freddie is a man who has lost everything he has ever loved and has retreated into himself, no longer socializing with others only working to keep his mind off of the traumatic tragedy he suffered. As Freddie helps Jules, he himself begins to heal and finds that he can still find peace and love.
I am absolutely in love with the characters Jeff Wade made come to life within the pages of this book. Both Freddie and Jules are relatable characters that grow as the story progresses. Freddie is a giant of a man and described as looking very intimidating but I found him to be the weaker of the two main characters. Until meeting Jules, Freddie kept himself isolated from all other people and would not allow himself to form any kind of bond with other people for fear of losing them. Jules, on the other hand, loves openly and takes a positive outlook on everything going on around her. She teaches Freddie how to open his heart and helps him find love again.

The authors strength lies in his ability to make the characters come to life, especially Zoe. His vivid description of the main characters, and the supporting cast, drew me in and even gave me a different perspective on mental illness (so I thought, no spoilers). Wade folded these vivid characters that you can identify with into a plot that combines drama, mystery, and at time humor (even if I’m not sure he intended to). And just when I thought I had the plot figured out, the author threw in an unexpected twist.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read. The writing rings poetic at times but doesn’t distract from the pacing or taking away from the storyline. I set aside a week to read, but finished it in a day!

5 stars – Mystery Meets Action-Packed Thriller and Beyond!
ByAnne L. Cunningham on August 23, 2018

I loaded “Drawer #7” by Jeff Wade into my Kindle fairly late at night, telling myself I’d read the initial first few pages to get a “feel” for the story, and then save it for the next day for a good, long sort of “scheduled read.” This turned into a “prop the pillows up and get a cup of tea” reading session and I stayed up until daylight to finish it. This was a worthwhile decision and an excellent late night-to-early morning reading ride, with all the drama, just enough mind-bending psychological thrills to keep it moving, but not enough that it was overdone or inauthentic, and then there was the drama, all the drama. Did I mention the drama? It, too, was the perfect mix, and not overly precocious, but just right, realistic, true to life, the stuff that our daily dreams and nightmares are made of. I had difficulty deciding if this was a mystery, an action-packed psychological thriller, a romance, or something betwixt and involving all the betweens. I thoroughly enjoyed “meeting” all the characters, “getting to know them” as the storyline progressed, and then trying to factor in whether loved them or hated them. This, too, was very realistic and true to daily life, in that we’re always trying to figure out that fine line between love and hate. Wade kept me questioning this or that angle, all the way to the end—like I said, until the sun came up—and the book was well worth that time and delightful reading effort, for sure.

“Drawer #7” by Jeff Wade is one of the most mesmerizing books I’ve read in a very long time. The plot is brimming with twists and turns, drama, psychological mind games and plenty of drama. What I especially enjoyed about this book is how it seamlessly weaves several genres together- mystery, thriller, science fiction, romance and plenty of action! What makes the book so incredible is that the plot is entirely believable, yet the story manages to still be attention-grabbing and electrifying. Great book that holds the suspense until the very end. The characters were relatable and developed well enough without being trite or paint-by-numbers. I finished the book in two days, and I was sad to see it end. As soon as I finished, I wanted more. This book was so captivating, I convinced a few of my non-reading associates to pick it up and sure enough, they all canceled plans to “just finish this chapter”.
As a side note, the book cover instantly drew me in and I was not disappointed once I decided to delve into this gem! A hearty five out of five stars!

Jeff Wade has outdone himself! His book Survivors was a fascinating and emotional read that I read in one day. Now with Drawers # 7 I was mesmerized and was unable to put the book down. It is 3:40 am and I just finished reading this gripping tale. These subjects are some that I personally obsess about as a psychiatric RN. Could we be related?
